The feeling of freedom that comes over me when I am at the sand dunes in Death Valley; As a #BlindMotherRunner there's almost a child like freedom to know that wherever I go I am surrounded by openness, no obstacles to worry about, and if I fall, I am cradled in a safe soft cloud of sand. Lately it's been extra difficult getting together with guides, especially when I have to source a ride. So #grateful for my friend @kittykentucky who picked me up and ran with me at Red Rock. I've been itching to get out of the burbs and run in the fresh open air. Yesterday's family hike was just a teaser for this #BlindMotherRunner. I don't get to trail run because I don't have the time and opportunity to put into the training. Most trails in our area are way too technical for my limited eyesight for me to traverse. So running at Red Rock on the road or on the River Mountain Loop is always so greatly appreciated. To me it is my version of trail running. Although I'm running on pavement, I'm still surrounded by the beauty of the desert, running under the vast endless sky, and gifted with the sounds and smells of what the Earth offers up to us.

It was a great day for a family hike at Ice Box Canyon.

Aaron gave me race medal hangers for Christmas and they finally got put up today. We're only displaying the half marathons, marathons, and ultramarathons though. can't wait to do BLU with him and add another medal and buckle to the wall next month.

I follow a podcast called Another Mother Runner. They have their TMI Tuesdays. Since I'm another mother runner who happens to be blind, I'm bringing it to Blind Mom in the Burbs. Raise your hand if you can't sneeze, cough, run, or jump rope without wetting your pants? 👋
